Dr. Matthew King, PhD., C.Psych

Dr. Matthew King is a Clinical Psychologist who provides psychological assessment and treatment to patients across Ontario. He strives to conduct therapy in a nonjudgmental, warm, and empathic environment to ensure that clients are comfortable making the progress they desire.

Dr. King completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and his Master’s degree in Neuroscience at McMaster University. He completed his predoctoral internship at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton where he trained extensively in the assessment and treatment of various mental health concerns including the Mood Disorders Program, Schizophrenia Outpatient Clinic, Women’s Health Concerns Clinic, and Long-term Psychotherapy.

He also trained at the Sleep and Depression Laboratory at Toronto Metropolitan University as a therapist on a National Institute of Health research trial. Dr. King trained at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic, the Clinical Neuropsychology Services at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, and at St. Michael’s Psychology Clinic in Toronto.

Dr. King provides treatment to those suffering with conditions such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and psychotic spectrum disorders, and interpersonal life stress.

His treatment of patients is tailored to their specific needs, and he is capable of providing treatment from several therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and emotionally focused therapy (EFT). Dr. King also integrates aspects of interpersonal, schema-focused, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy into his work with patients.
